Review:
Not being originally from America I had never heard of this until I saw the trailer for the movie. Regrettably for me this movie was terrible, which in turn makes me not want to read the book. From the trailer it seemed very children appropriate, very fun and moving along at a steady pace, I was wrong on all counts. This movie was far from being suitable for children, very much an emotionally sad movie and moved along at a snail's pace, which just seemed to make it worse. Honestly I saw no point to the movie at all. The boy Max didn't really seem to learn anything through out the entire movie so I felt there was no moral to the story, which may have improved its appeal enough to allow my children to watch it.

Honestly I would not recommend this movie to anyone, which is rare for me to say as there is usually someone out there who would like it. I really can not think of anyone who would actually like this movie and recommend it to others. It saddens me when a well known book is made into a movie and fails to deliver, usually it is more the fans of the book and the author I feel bad for.

Thank you for you reading,
Alison
