Review:
From the moment I saw the trailer this movie was a must see for me. Not only because Johnny Depp is one of my favorite actors but also because growing up Alice in Wonderland was one of my favorite cartoons/story...Alison and Alice are extremely similar to young child so I was convinced it was me for the longest time. Anyway, having never read the sequel to Alice in Wonderland I can not say how it measures up but it was Incredible. Tim Burton has done it again. Everything about this movie is amazing, from the actors, the sets, the storyline and the special effects.
There is one small, I wouldn't say problem but could have a negative effect on some people, with this movie and to me it was the return of Captain Jack Sparrow. Now, I just said Johnny Depp is one of my favorites, which is true, and Captain Jack is one of the roles I thought he played perfectly, however there were times when the Hatter was speaking that Jack could be seen sneaking through a little. It could have been the way the hands were used while he spoke or the similarity in the fact that both the Hatter and Jack are insane, but either way he was there at times. Again it was not such a big deal to call it a problem, but some people may not be able to overlook it.
If you love the actors involved, the story of Alice in Wonderland, fanstasy, action and a dragon, this movie is for you. For adults keep in mind that the rating is PG so check it out before you let your kids go just in case. My daughter 5 really loved it but she is a little crazy, like a Hatter. While there is action and some fight scenes, action buffs may not get the adrenline rush they are used to or wanting. There is no romance as the Hatter and Alice have more of a best friend/brother/sister type relationship going on but again great fanstasy for those who just want to leave the real world behind for a little while.
Thank you for reading,
Alison
